The life of Mike Green started in South Minneapolis MN, but in his early years of guitar playing quickly bound his roots in his new home-town which he dubs “The Shire”, minimal miles away from Minneapolis. Mike’s first initial dive into the music scene was promoted with the single-minded collaboration of his first metal band The Angle Obscure. They came to print their debut album Silence is Our Canvas in 2009. He attended college at McNally Smith College of Music and began playing with many new kinds of musicians. His friends formed small fusion groups and ensembles, doing cover-songs of Paul Gilbert and Yngwie Malmsteen, and he was quick to join. Inspiration came from many mentors like Jeff Castleman who gave Mike personal theory training and offered an endless knowledge of jazz. Jeff was the bassist for Duke Ellington and has played with countless legends like Frank Sinatra, Don Ho, Sarah Vaughn, Bob Hope, Tony Bennet, and even Chet Atkins at the Montreal Jazz Festival.

Many semesters into college Mike developed tendinitis in both of his arms. He had to put down the guitar for 6 months and during that time attended physical therapy at the TRIA Orthepiedic Center in Minnesota. While in recovery he joined the band Melloroar full-time and played keyboards, but could only use his right hand because both of his arms were in braces. Slowly but surely, after months of completely changing his life around he was able to start playing again and get back in the game. After that Mike got asked to go on the road with The Johnny Holm Band and played for thousands night after night with the amazing band. Mike also worked as road-crew doing keyboard, drum tech, and lighting-designer.

Big Zach (Zach Combs, author and emcee) of the group More Than Lights called Mike asking if he could play a festival that was being headlined by the Flaming Lips. He later went on to tour with that band along with performing cover music on the side. Following this he tracked recordings with his band Nature of Waves, and 8-Bit songs with his composer-duo Dinbot. Currently his band Audiyo Element is blowing up in Minneapolis and just released their first recording, “Who We Are” on Soundcloud. His house gig on Sunday nights resides at the Whiskey Junction with the ever ambitious trio, Hot Black Funky. They are a group of talented musicians and also former McNally Smith Students playing fusion, funk, and rock. Mike has performed also with Duenday, which is an Electro-Hip-Hop group that incorporates live instruments. This summer they have played festivals like Summer Set at Somerset Amphitheater and Infrasound Music Festival.

His productivity in the music industry since has synthesized the creation of MJG Music. It is made of the many different elements that capture Mike’s playing and artistic expression.
